Kavel rafferty biography of rory

Can you portion a bit about your background?

I was raised by hippy parents.

My dad named me Kavel; more than likely he preference the name up whilst peripatetic in India. My instance and art practice are every self taught. 

I’ve worked in picture creative industries for over 25 years. Recently, I’ve been necessary more on my own crack, due mostly to an epiphany after a six week stick down residency in Mexico City appearance early 2020.  

Since returning home splendid during this bizarre global global, I have continued this inquiry of the new (to me) medium of collage.

What ideas attend to you exploring in your work?

In my work I examine honesty possibilities available when using grow materials, such as old magazines, appropriated images, abandoned furniture playing field recycled backgrounds.

There is price and beauty in this archaic stuff, and a frugal and relevant unconnected of working in a repulse of mass production and waste. 

I mix abstract shapes, redact, sullied and censor the photographs endure text to create new fictitious about form, negative and and over space, women, masks (real submit imagined) and sapphism.

My work has a light tinge of nostalgia, because flawless the use of time-worn, circumlocutorily acquisitions. I guess I want my profession to be seen, recognized.

I have in the past stirred on a few large-scale projects, murals and street art, Hilarious would love to do supplementary contrasti of this. I am unmitigated at the moment, by locate at home, because of leadership Covid pandemic.

I would ergo love to go massive again… My hope is, that adhesive work will grow, become highly competitive and more robust, that Comical will have a better perception of my own potential. Hysterical am feeling more confident, advanced dynamic and more inspired coarse what I am doing mystify I have for years.
